A dog that can count one of its parents as a wolf has sold for £4.4m – a new world-record fee paid for a canine.

The one-of-a-kind dog Cadabomb Okami, as it is called, was sold to Indian dog enthusiast S Sathish – it was reported on Tuesday.

Okami is a cross between an actual wolf and a Caucasian Shepherd and weighs 75kg, standing at 30in tall, according to The Sun.

The giant hound was born in the US but brought to India in February through a broker to Mr Sathish, who is a well-known breeder and owns more than 150 dogs.

He said: “The dog was bred in the US and is extraordinary. I spent 50 million rupees on buying this pup because I am fond of dogs and like to own unique dogs and introduce them to India.

“He is an extremely rare breed of dog and looks exactly like a wolf. This breed has not been sold in the world before.”

But if you have some money to spend on a rarity, here are the most expensive dog breeds.

What are the world’s most expensive dog breeds?

Raising the stakes, insurance site Protectivity found this giant to be the world’s most expensive dog breed – although other sites disagree.

Samoyed – Can be more than £10,000

Even more expensive is this rare breed, which originates from Siberia and is seen to roam around with a smile on its face. According to Prudent Pet this is the most expensive.

Cadabomb Okami – Sold for £4.4m

Straight in at number one is Cadabomb Okami, the rarest dog in the world, which commands a huge fee. Don’t expect to see this one in your local park.
