Turkmenistan’s nomination, “The Art of Breeding the Turkmen Alabay Dogs” has been included in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The decision was unanimously adopted on December 11 during the 20th session of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in New Delhi, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

All 24 committee members praised the nomination dossier prepared by Turkmenistan’s National Commission for UNESCO in collaboration with the international association “Turkmen Alabay Dogs”. Masters, breeder families, scientists, and enthusiasts actively contributed to the nomination, with a special emphasis on the important role of women in preserving this tradition.
