DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) — While the Montgomery County dog licensing deadline was extended, many people are still rushing to make sure they get their pets licensed. SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center, in an effort to help the community, hosted a community dog licensing event on Saturday.
“We have been an outpost for Montgomery County dog licenses for many years, and we are happy to do it,” said Nicole Carey, adoption program manager for SICSA. She went on to talk about how important it is to get a license for your dog. Not only is it required by law for people to license their dog, a dog license is often the key to reuniting a lost dog with its owner. “It’s a really important thing to keep your pet safe,” she said.
The license for an altered dog is $20, and for an unaltered dog is $24. Carey said that the fees go to support local animal organizations and help them be able to ensure the humane treatment of animals.
SICSA’s dog licensing event will last through Sunday, January 31.
