EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — On this week’s Mutt Monday, our friends at El Paso Animal Services brought Dozer for us to meet!
He is a senior dog full of love and, of course, ready to be adopted! Like him, there are many dogs at the El Paso shelters looking for their forever home.
September is National Preparedness Month, and when adopting a pet, or even owning a pet, a lot goes into being prepared.
That’s why Destiny Valdez with Animal Services shared some tips on how pet owners can be prepared for their furry friends, including the following:
Emergency go-bag
When taking your pet out of the house, an emergency go-bag might be the answer to all your problems. You can carry things that they like, such as treats and toys, but you can also carry important documents, such as their vaccine and vet records.
Microchips
Microchipping your pet can help them return home faster and easier if they get lost. Without a microchip or outdated information, pet owners are hard to reach, and pets end up staying in the streets or in shelters longer than necessary.
Pets should be comfortable
As pet owners, it is important to make sure pets are comfortable in their harness and leash. Keeping them safe is important, but so is making sure they are not in pain or stressed.
