Šibenik has welcomed a new cultural and tourist attraction with the grand opening of the House of the Dalmatian Dog, located in Ulica kralja Zvonimira.

In a ceremony attended by guests and media representatives, this unique centre dedicated to the world-famous Dalmatian breed was officially opened to the public.

This innovative project blends tradition, animal love and modern museum design to create an experience that goes beyond the typical tourist offering.

Designed as a space of authenticity and regional identity, the House of the Dalmatian Dog celebrates the rich heritage of Dalmatia through the story of a breed whose origins are deeply rooted in the region.

The project is the work of creative agency HEARTH thinking&doing, a team of passionate animal lovers and award-winning professionals from the fields of marketing, design and project management.

“We are convinced that this one-of-a-kind experience will become one of Croatia’s top tourist attractions,” said agency director Igor Mladinović at the opening.

“The House of the Dalmatian Dog will further enrich the tourist offer of Šibenik, Šibenik-Knin County and the whole of Dalmatia.”

He added that Šibenik was chosen for the museum because of the city’s historic love of dogs and its strong commitment to family-friendly and cultural tourism.

Among those in attendance was Šibenik Mayor Željko Burić, who praised the initiative:

“The House of the Dalmatian Dog is a brilliant example of how cultural heritage can be interpreted in a modern, creative and tourist-friendly way. We are proud that this has been realised in Šibenik. It connects a love for animals, heritage and the local community. I believe it will become a favourite spot for locals and tourists alike.”

Support for the project also came from Paško Rakić, Prefect of Šibenik-Knin County, who attended as an envoy of the Croatian Prime Minister, and Domagoj Mikulić, State Secretary in the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds.

The museum offers an engaging gallery-style exhibition, allowing visitors to explore the history of the Dalmatian breed, its traits, development over time and the prominent role it has played in global popular culture.

In keeping with contemporary museum trends, the House includes a mini cinema, interactive and educational features for all ages, and a range of visually appealing, Instagram-friendly displays.

One of the highlights is the chance to meet real-life Dalmatians – friendly dogs Dalma and her brother Tin, who have already charmed the first visitors.
