It’s my dog’s world — and I’m just living in it.
My family and I are the proud owners of five dogs — Khloe Jolie, Kingston Banks, Kennedy Fitzgerald, Honey Florence and Teddy Bernard (Yes, they all have middle names.)
Khloe is the first dog we’ve ever owned, and she has taught us so much about being pet owners, as well as more about ourselves than we could’ve ever imagined.
When my family and I first welcomed Khloe into our lives, we quickly learned so much about her personality, including that she is a diva, as well as what she does and doesn’t like.
Recently, we discovered that Khloe has an obsession with something that other dog owners have noticed their canine companions love as well.

One day, while sitting around the living room, I wanted to put something on the television to keep my dogs occupied while I was busy with work.
In the past, Khloe had shown interest in Frozen (I think she particularly liked the lovable snowman Olaf), as well as the live-action adaptation of The Lion King.
Thinking of her infatuation with Disney films, I decided to open up Disney+ to find something for all five pups to watch. After scrolling through many options, and almost clicking on 101 Dalmatians — because dogs would love to watch other dogs, right? — I saw an option for a show that I had heard of, but didn’t know much about.
Clicking on the small icon, I was greeted by the landing page for the television series Bluey, which follows the titular Blue Heeler puppy, who lives with her dad, mom and little sister Bingo.
“This seems like a cute show for them to watch,” I remember thinking to myself at the time, before clicking play on the series.
Almost instantly, within seconds of the opening theme’s infectious beat, I noticed Khloe’s attention captured and her head tilted towards the TV.
About half an hour later, with episodes playing back to back, I peeked up from my laptop to find Khloe sitting up on the couch opposite me, staring at the television screen.
“Khloe? Khloe? Khloe Jolie?” I would call to her, but she remained unfazed. “Khloe?” I would try again, to no avail.
Watching her from the opposite side of the room, I couldn’t help but notice that Khloe was fully mesmerized by the screen before her.
Even my attempts at using “the T word” — “treat” — were ignored, prompting me to realize that Khloe’s full attention was on the children’s series.
Captivated by Khloe’s obsession, I grabbed my phone and recorded a video of Khloe watching Bluey, which I later shared on social media for my followers to see.
“OMG! This is so cute,” one friend wrote, as a family member said: “Look at her sitting up. She looks like a human.”
Since then, I’ve put Bluey on for Khloe on numerous occasions — when I had to leave the house, when I needed some quiet time, etc. — and the response has always been the same.
Sometimes she continues to sit up to watch the show, other times she lays in front of the TV with her head resting on her paws.
And, as it turns out, I am not the only dog owner who has noticed that their pet loves the animated show.
Scrolling through TikTok, there are countless videos of pet owners who have shared clips of their pups watching Bluey, with their attention captured just like my Khloe’s.
Janneke Margand says her 10-month-old Golden Retriever Teddy is also a Bluey fan. “He will be very focused on the screen, will tilt his head at certain noises, and sometimes will bark and walk up to the TV with excitement if there is a faster-paced scene,” she says.
Emma and Corey Moriarty say the same can be said for their pup Blue, a six-year-old Siberian Husky. “We saw a TikTok video about how dogs love Bluey … so we threw it on, and he was instantly hooked to the TV and never looked away,” they tell PEOPLE.
Morgan Hill’s Goldendoodle Shem, who is a year old, started to watch Bluey when he “was just a puppy,” she says. “He loves it. He tilts his head and stares at the TV! It’s hilarious. I like watching him watch Bluey. It brings me joy.”
Leigh Mysticate adds that her Shih-tzu/Maltese mix Denji also watches Bluey with such intent, as the pup “doesn’t take their eyes off of the iPad, tilts their head at certain scenes and sometimes scratches the screen.”

Amanda Farah, a National Training & Behavior Coordinator for the Best Friends Animal Society, told PEOPLE last year that there are many different reasons why Bluey has become known as “dog entertainment.”
One of the most popular theories about why dogs love the show is its blue-and-yellow heavy color palette. Though Farah said “we can’t get inside a dog’s brain and know” which colors they can see, there is some evidence to suggest they see blue and yellow — two colors featured heavily in Bluey.
Farah also said other “dog elements” of the show is the use of constant movement and high-pitched sounds, all of which she says dogs really tune into. Plus, Bluey, of course, features dogs. “There is research that says that dogs seem to discriminate dogs on video,” Farah said. “They recognize dog shapes, which is probably not surprising.”
