2024 Excellence in Construction Awards winner: Commercial
What makes this project unique?
The center includes a state of the art veterinary hospital and a Canine Early Development Center for breeding, research and neonatal care. These are designed to help expand the mission of providing service dogs to people with disabilities at no cost to the recipient.
“It will also be a place where the community can get involved, helping care for puppies, gathering to celebrate our mission and its impact and will help us drive the work of Canine Companions forward,” said Canine Companions CEO Paige Mazzoni. “The building also allows us to engage older volunteers, because it is built to be accessible and safe, keeping them from being shut off from (the) community.”
The center will also allow further expansion for future service dogs, as well as a new, larger facility for Canine Companions’ research program.
