Half of Gen Z Americans consider themselves mom and dad — to their pet, according to new research. Older generations don’t. From a companion to their literal child, different generations approach pet parenthood in different ways. A survey of 2,000 employed cat and dog owners split evenly by generation found that while their methods vary, the one thing they can agree on is that pets make their lives better (98%). Rowan University celebrated the generosity, vision and love of South Jersey business executive Gerry Shreiber Nov. 7 with a ribbon cutting for the pet therapy center he funded this spring. Shreiber, president and CEO of J&J Snack Foods Corp. of Pennsauken, donated $3 million in June to establish The Shreiber Family Pet Therapy Program of Rowan University. Nine in 10 dog owners claim their dog’s health is “just as” or “even more” important than their own. A new poll of 1,900 U.S. dog owners found 52% claimed their dog’s health is just as important as their own health, while another 41% said their dog’s health is even more important than their own. WEST RIDGE — Tree House Humane Society is expanding its offerings in West Ridge, providing affordable veterinary services to local pet owners and stray animal organizations. Tree House opened its veterinary wellness center Tuesday at its headquarters at 7225 N. Western Ave. The humane society group opened in Uptown in 1971 and moved to West Ridge in 2017, where it opened a shelter for cats.
