The world’s most expensive dog has sold for a staggering £4.4million, as one of its parents is a wolf.

The rare “wolfdog” named Cadabomb Okami was purchased by S Sathish, a renowned dog breeder from Bengaluru in southern Karnataka, India.

The eye-watering sum, equivalent to 500m rupees, was paid for what is believed to be the first-ever crossbreed between an actual wolf and a Caucasian Shepherd.

Touted as the rarest dog in the world, Okami was born in the US and sold through a broker in India in February.

At just eight months old, the pup already weighs a staggering 75kg and stands at 30 inches tall

Sathish, 51, already owns over 150 different dog breeds.

At just eight months old, the pup already weighs a staggering 75kg and stands at 30 inches tall.

“He is an extremely rare breed of dog and looks exactly like a wolf. This breed has not been sold in the world before,” said Sathish.

Caucasian Shepherds are muscular, fluffy dogs native to cold countries such as Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and parts of Russia.

They are renowned as incredible guard dogs, often used to protect herds of livestock from wolves on mountainsides.

“The dog was bred in the US and is extraordinary,” Sathish added.

Sathish, who is president of the Indian Dog Breeders Association, has made Okami a sensation in Karnataka.

He parades the wolfdog at several high-profile events including film premieres.

One clip of Okami on the red carpet has attracted almost three million views online, according to Sathish.

“I spent money on these dogs because they are rare. Besides, I get enough money because people are always curious to see them,” he explained.

Though he stopped breeding dogs around a decade ago, Sathish now earns substantial sums just by showcasing his rare breeds.

At his Cadabom’s Kennels, Sathish keeps all his dogs on a seven-acre farm.

Each dog has a 20ft by 20ft room as a kennel with ample space to walk and run.

Security is tight with a 10ft-tall wall around the property and constant CCTV surveillance.

“There are six people to look after them,” Sathish said.

Regarding diet, he avoids commercial dog food. “Packed dog food has steroids and reduces their life-span. I feed all my dogs raw food.”

Okami consumes three kilograms of raw chicken meat daily.
