POV: It’s Friday night and you’re headed to an event at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. You plan a night out with your best friends, but instead of getting a bite to eat before you arrive, you decide to eat at the arena.

Thanks to this guide to eating and drinking at The Well, you know exactly what you’re getting for dinner.

City Editor Danielle here. I set out on a mission to experience the best of the food and beverage offerings at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. While a hot dog, pretzel, and beer can hit the spot, I branched out from my usual arena food, and boy was I surprised at some of the bites I enjoyed.

    Here’s everything I tried.

    Piedmont Grill

Chances are you’ve visited this grab-and-go spot during a Swamp Rabbits Game or event at The Well. It’s the busiest booth with favorites like hot dogs, pretzels, and popcorn. You can also grab specialty items depending on the event — like the LSU Boudin Balls + Cocky Chicken Sandwich (with must-try candied bacon) available at the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament.

    Carolina Smoke Barbecue

Next, we got a taste of barbecue that can go toe-to-toe with your favorite Greenville barbecue joint. Choose from 12-hour smoked angus beef brisket or pork rib, or the twice-rubbed pulled pork butt. Our pick? The loaded mac with 12-hour smoked burnt ends.

    Reedy River Roost

It’s hard to pick a favorite at The Well, but I would say the Reedy River Roost has the most creative menu offerings in the arena. Feast on specialty totchos, chicken and waffles, and bird dogs (read: chicken tenders prepared in a hot dog bun and topped).

    Swamp Dogs

This cart on the concourse serves wild-topped hot dogs that change depending on the event. At the SEC Women’s Basketball tournament, we got a foot-long Razorback dog which had pulled pork, slaw, jalapeños, bacon, and a Dr. Pepper sauce.

    Craft cocktails

In addition to craft beer and wine offerings around the arena, at select events, you’ll find liquor carts and stands mixing your favorite drinks, plus specialty cocktails — different events call for different cocktails, crafted in-house by The Well’s food and beverage team.

There was only so much room in my stomach on this taste tour, so I have a feeling I’ll be adding to this article each time I visit Bon Secours Wellness Arena. I can’t wait to try the gelato doughnut sandwiches next. What else do I need to experience? Share your favorite.
