ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Over 700 dogs are expected to attend conformation, obedience, and rally events, which showcase more than 130 Abilene Kennel Club (AKC) breeds.
Richard Nance expressed how great the event was and highlighted that attendees came from all over the nation.
“We have some people from Mexico, from many of the states,” said Nance.
Shelby Norlin also said how excited she was about the dog show.
“Very exciting; it’s just a great show they’ve put on a wonderful venue. It’s not a large show, but it’s a very welcoming, homey type show. So, one of the better ones that I have been to,” said Norlin.
One of the participants was Shelby Norlin, a dog owner from Augusta, Kansas, who said she drove very far to Abilene for the event.
“I’m from Augusta, Kansas, and we traveled over six hours to get here. I have a nine-month-old Doberman Pinscher, by the name of Twinkie. She’s just starting out, who’s got herself a few points. She’s only been to about three different shows,” said Norlin.
The Best in Show winner was a Boxer from Flower Mound, Texas, handled by Michael Shephard. The Reserve Best in Show was a Pointer, managed by Dennis Brown from Nebraska. Nancy Simmons from Dallas, Texas, conducted the judging for Best in Show.
