Blue Monday, which is said to be the ‘most depressing day of the year’, has officially come and gone, but many might still be feeling low. There’s one way to bring some joy back, however, and that’s by celebrating pets and how much happiness they bring people.
Pet retailer Animed has launched a competition where owners can share a story and picture of how their furry friend has put a smile on their face for a chance to win a £200 voucher. It’s open to all UK residents aged 18+ and it’s simple to enter.
It’s an opportunity for owners to share how much their pets matter to them, and a chance to grab some toys and treats as a bonus. All shoppers need to do is head to Animed’s website and fill in the form before January 25 – but it can only be one entry per person.

There is no purchase necessary to enter, and pet owners must grant Animed permission to use their submitted text and images on its owned channels. The winner will then be contacted by January 31, with the £200 voucher valid for six months for online use only.
For those who don’t know about Animed, the brand offers everything from medicines and specialist diets to premium toys and accessories. Every product is hand-picked by experts and every prescription is checked by a qualified vet, according to the brand.
Plus, for added convenience, everything is delivered straight to pet owners’ doors. The brand doesn’t just cover cats and dogs, though, as there are products for horses, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, ferrets, birds and exotic pets, too.
The site says there is free delivery for UK Mainland orders of £49 and over, and dog products include treats for less than £1 and dry and wet food. For example, there’s the Natures Menu Freeze Dried Meat Bites Dog Treats Lamb (15g) for £0.95 or the Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Expert Neutered Large Breed Dry Dog Food (12kg) for £58.99.
For cats, for example, there are the Felix Crispies Salmon And Trout Cat Treats (45g) for £0.84, reduced from £1.05, at the moment. There’s also the bestseller Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary S/O Dry Cat Food (7kg) available for £55.99.
As an alternative, shoppers could look to Pooch and Mutt. This brand says its food is vet-approved, made with natural ingredients, and designed for ‘all breeds and needs’, and there’s the option to enjoy 25% off with subscriptions.
Or there’s Pure Pet Food as another option for dog owners, which sells a natural, healthy dog food that simply needs water added to create a nutritious meal. The brand is currently offering 30% off shoppers’ first box and 10% off the next box.
Back to Animed, however, the brand has received an ‘Excellent’ rating on Trustpilot with more than 350,000 reviews, 90% of which are five star. One said: “This is my third delivery now and each time I truly cannot fault them. Each time the delivery has turned up earlier than expected, this time round it was due the Fri but arrived Tues in the nick of time as I’d run out that day due to ordering it late by mistake. Every delivery is always well packaged and complete. Will 100% be sticking with you now for my cats meds he needs to be on for the rest of his life. Thank you for such an amazing service.”
A second said: “A good price, very easy to use, I always check their website and it’s very comparable. Great delivery just as they said. Very pleased all round.”
Some others left feedback for the brand, with one writing: “Great for ordering and reasonably prompt delivery. Subscriptions service seems unwieldy and very difficult to change delivery/amount of product without just cancelling a delivery.”
Overall, though, most were pleased. Another person said: “Brilliant service as always. Quick delivery Thank you.”
