The Heritage of Green Hills in Cumru Township, Berks County, once again celebrated the bond between people and their pets with its annual blessing of the animals.
Held under the senior living community’s portico, the gathering brought together residents, team members and their four-legged friends for a heartwarming afternoon led by the Rev. Linda Kozlowski of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ.
The event honored the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment, and welcomed pet parents of all faiths to celebrate the joy and comfort their companions bring.
Kozlowski’s mother has been a resident of The Heritage for nearly a decade.
In addition to celebrating the community’s many beloved pets, the ceremony also provided a moment of remembrance for those animals who have passed on but remain cherished in memory.
