    October 11, 1953 – August 21, 2014

Mr. Ken “Mad Dog” Brunson, age 60, husband of Elaine Russell Brunson, and a resident of Heritage Drive in Columbia, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The family will celebrate his life with private services at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. A native of Columbia, Ken was born on October 11, 1953 and was the son of the late William Tarlton and Elizabeth Ellen Shouse Brunson. He was retired from the State of Tennessee where he worked over 30 years as an eligibility counselor. In his younger years, he played baseball for the Babe Ruth and All Stars teams here in Columbia, which he was very proud of. He was a graduate from Columbia Central High School, he earned his Associates Degree from Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, and he earned his bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying all different types of sports, and he also enjoyed spending time in Tunica, Mississippi. Ken’s family also described him as being a great provider for his family. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his children: Chris Thomas (Linda) Brunson of Spring Hill, Cayci Noelle Brunson of Columbia; and his triplet children: Cory William Brunson of China, Cayla Rue Brunson (Cory Chatham) of LaVergne, and Collin Russell Brunson of China; sister: Connie (Mark) Tabor of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren: Michaela “Mimi” Brunson, Christopher Thomas Brunson, Jr.; niece: Lauren Tabor; nephew: Ryan Tabor; aunt: Mary Shouse Potts; numerous cousins; and his beloved dog: Henry.
