Meet the Borzoi, Russia’s answer to the greyhound! These speedy sighthounds have impressively long noses and elegant, flowing fur. Born for the chase, they’re true athletes—and their name literally means “fast dog.” Just keep them entertained; these long-nosed legends get bored quick!

    Xoloitzcuintle

Try saying “Xoloitzcuintle” three times fast! Also known as the Mexican Hairless Dog, this breed is famous for its smooth skin and ancient roots. Some Xolos are totally bald, while others have just a touch of fur, all in the same litter. They’ve been turning heads since Aztec times.

    Peruvian Inca Orchid

You’d be forgiven for mixing up the Peruvian Inca Orchid with a Xoloitzcuintle, they’re both hairless wonders from ancient lineages. The Peruvian Inca Orchid sometimes sports tufts of hair on the top of its head, feet, or tail. A rare sight, and definitely a conversation starter at the dog park!

    Chinese Crested

This little pooch comes in two styles: powderpuff (full of flowing hair) and the more famous hairless variety, which rocks a punky mane on its head, tail, and feet. Watching a Chinese Crested zoom around, long tufts flying, is a true treat for any dog lover.

    Azawakh

Hailing from West Africa’s deserts, the Azawakh is lean, keen, and built for speed. With a slim build and flat muscles, they were made to chase gazelles over open plains. Bonus: they’ve got memories like steel traps, these dogs never forget their favourite people.

    Dandie Dinmont Terrier

Here’s a terrier with serious style! The Dandie Dinmont Terrier is compact with a long body and show-stopping “hairdo” that puffs up on top of its head. It’s easily the most laid-back of the terriers, but don’t let that calm fool you, these dogs love to dig!

    Pharaoh Hound

It looks like it strutted out of ancient Egypt, but the Pharaoh Hound actually calls Malta home. Known for their large, jackal-like ears and distinctive looks, Pharaoh Hounds exude regal vibes and carry a lot of myth and mystery (despite being a relatively young breed by history’s standards).

    Komondor

Last but never least: the Komondor, or “mop dog.” This Hungarian giant is instantly recognisable with its thick, corded coat that looks just like a mop, and it’s not just for show. That wild fur protected sheepdogs from wolf bites! The only downside? After bath time, prepare for days of drying.
