With their pearly, cream-colored coats, white dog breeds make eye-catching pets. But these good boys and girls also have endearing personalities to match their striking aesthetics. From beloved Frenchies to mop-haired Komondors, many dog breeds can have pure-white fur—or coats that come in similar pale hues like cream and biscuit. Some developed their dazzling white fur to blend in with their surroundings, like dogs that were bred to protect sheep or those that live in snowy places. For others, a white coat is simply a natural (and adorable) color variation.

Breed Characteristics
White dog breeds all have one thing in common: their beautiful, snow-colored coats. But, beyond that, these pups run the gamut in terms of their size, personalities, grooming needs, exercise requirements, and tendencies. Some white pooches are pint-sized lap dogs, like the Maltese and the bichon frise. Others are sturdy gentle giants, like the Samoyed and the Dogo Argentino. They also have very different likes and dislikes: The Great Pyrenees, for example, loves to lounge around outside all day to protect his flock of sheep, while the Pomeranian is happiest when being toted around in a cute handbag.
